  • Essay / Effective Communication Habits - 1301

SummaryAn employee sent an email openly complaining about another employee. Management sees the need to respond to this email. It is obvious that effective communication is not being used. The memo sent by management suggests different ideas to increase positive and constructive communication between employees and management. A communications training course is organized and must be presented by a reputable instructor. Another topic discussed is the ministerial working group report submitted for review. This report was poor in terms of content, structure, critical thinking and, above all, writing skills. Effective Communication Habits This memo is addressed to all employees in the work group. It appears an email was sent detailing some complaints from one employee about another. This email was sent to all department employees. Management would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that if a problem arises, then it must be resolved through open, non-confrontational communication between those involved. If a resolution cannot be reached, do not hesitate to seek assistance from any member of management to resolve the issue. Additionally, an issue should never be openly discussed with department members who are not directly involved. Discussing such issues in a negative way (by complaining) will only cause the person to talk about their hurt or embarrassed feelings. These feelings can lead to anger and resentment. If you fail to discuss issues in a constructive, non-confrontational manner, the problem is likely to get worse instead of resolved. Additionally, there are several resources......in the middle of the document......to fully utilize the working group in the spirit in which it was created. First, the working group will meet twice a week to plan and discuss among members. Second, a task force leader will be appointed. This manager will proofread all future reports before submitting the final copy. Finally, the task force leader will meet with management to review the final report. Remember that effective communication, whether verbal or written, is essential in today's business environment. Works Cited Coleman, JD (nd). Jennifer Coleman.
