Essay / My career in the screen printing industry - 717
Personal and professional goalsI have been working in the screen printing industry for ten years. I learned many different aspects of the screen printing industry: cleaning screens, degreasing screens, coating screens, and exposing screens. Then I learned about quality control, shipping and receiving. I also learned how to give quotes. With the support of others, I became a screen printer, then a production supervisor. I was in a period of my life with seasonal work and little education. I enrolled at San Antonio Community College for the fall 2013 semester and began setting goals for myself. With limited skills in graphic design, I decided to pursue a degree in communications and design. I wanted to become a graphic designer. I wanted to learn another side of the screen printing industry by creating and separating vector art. Having a background in screen printing and experience in graphic design could help sell me to employers as I would know how to do the art work and screen printing. However, after doing some research, I realized that becoming a graphic designer takes a lot of skill and practice, and is extremely competitive. Graphic designers have a key advantage: becoming a freelance graphic designer, which allows for additional income. I wanted more opportunities; I decided to change my major to Business Major. I think this will help me in many ways. This opens the door to management positions in restaurants, or in a warehouse, or even to becoming a factory manager or marketing director. The possibility of owning my own business is also an option. With the goal of further education and application, I believe this experience will give me more information, knowledge and power to make better decisions. This semester, I'm taking the lead...... middle of paper ......uh. I am unhappy with myself and I will make decisions to solve my problems. I set a goal to improve my grades. I will do everything I can to get a B+ in this class. I came to college because I wanted to make more money. However, I am learning to change myself. With training and the tools I receive, I feel like I am achieving my goals. I become a better leader, an objective writer, and a better communicator because I learn to use correct grammar. With countless goals to achieve, I will always believe in myself when no one else does; I will always remain patient and never give up. As I continue to change and rearrange my goals, I know that my education plays an important role in my success in my career. Finally, with well thought out plans and a good support system, I believe all goals can be achieved. Change is constant.
