Should Downtown Atlanta Have Free Parking? Atlanta is one of the most visited cities in America. The most common place that people like to visit when they come to Atlanta is downtown. Downtown Atlanta is a huge place located in the center of the city. Downtown has everything from shopping centers to historic buildings. These are the many things that downtown Atlanta has to offer. With downtown being the busiest place in Atlanta, this results in a lack of parking that has become a major problem for visitors and residents. Downtown Atlanta offers free parking, but it is limited to the public. There is also a parking meter that allows visitors to only park for a maximum of two hours. That being said, many people believe that parking in downtown Atlanta should be free to the public. This is one of the biggest problems in downtown Atlanta. Providing free parking will be a costly investment for the city of Atlanta. Parking in downtown Atlanta should not be free because it can be a costly investment for the city. Most parking available in the city center costs time and money. Even the available parking spaces are very limited and not everyone can afford it. Downtown parking lots are owned by certain companies. Most of these companies even charge their own employees for this work. As for the city, it has a few free parking spaces limited to the public. Most of these parking spaces in downtown Atlanta are usually not free. Atlanta is not the only American state that does not offer free parking to its customers, workers or tourists. For example, downtown New York charges for parking. There are many roadside parking meters where you can park your car for a limited time.
