Essay / Good things come in threes - 1945
Good things come in threes. The Power of Three suggests that those who come in threes are funnier, more satisfying, and more effective. Maybe that's why there are always up to three people affecting a person's life. Three people form a social circle. Eighteen years into Fariha Alam's life, she realized who her three were. Born on October 18, 1997, she knew that the mother of her birth would always be one of them. As she progressed later in life, transitioning from living in Brooklyn, New York, to the Atlanta metro area at a young age, she found her other half – Sanjee. His cousin was more than just family. They were sisters, each other's "ride or die," from day one, and every other millennial lingo you could think of that signified the enduring importance of a significant other. According to sociologist GH Mead, a significant other is someone who has a lasting impact on your life, not just your non-platonic life partner. But the non-platonic life partner came later for Fariha, he came in the form of an older white man, 5 feet and 11 inches tall, who went by the name Daniel Detlefsen. During her life, she was exposed to different situations that proved that these were the three people she would always cherish during her life. In a split-level home in Dunwoody, Georgia, Fariha grew up in a semi-conservative household. and a semi-conservative neighborhood with 2 brothers and both of their parents. She was the middle child, but always felt like the oldest because her older brother was at a boarding school in Pennsylvania for most of his life and only came once or twice a year. His father worked at a multi-location company, so he was gone most of the day, resulting in a not-so-close relationship... middle of paper... to come between us like that. Daniel looked and sighed, "Look, I promised myself I wouldn't date anyone, not until I got through college and the part of my life that I should have finished years ago." But I met you and I broke that promise so I could have you before someone else did. » Fariha looked at him in awe as he left his room and tried to fall asleep. Ultimately, these three people left such a lasting impression that she could not imagine what her life would have been like without any of these individuals. Each with their own set of qualities and characteristics made them who they were and how they handled being a part of his journey, willingly or not. Every situation, good or bad, was a specific memory for Fariha. And every little moment with her three people is one that she will always remember and hope to create more of in times to come..
