There have been many incidents of violence in schools, including many tragic school shootings. Columbine, Virginia Tech and Sandy Hooks Elementary were among the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. Many violence prevention programs have been created and used to prevent such acts. The most widely used prevention program is called the zero tolerance program. Other programs have been used, but have they been successful? School problems and bullying are problems linked to school violence, but some of these problems can originate at home.
