Ravi LandeckNew third versionDiamondsDeep in the Alps there is a small town called Clay. The sun was rising over an icy blue mountain and drops of dew were falling from the leaves of the valley. Arthur woke up to find his room filled with light. He went downstairs and drank a glass of water, not hungry enough to eat. Arthur stepped out into the cool morning and began walking down the road. The road was lined with hundreds of huge alpine trees. A large flock of birds flew over Arthur's head in the sky. “Arthur!” Hello Arthur! Arthur turned his head to see his two friends James and Derek. The three of them had been best friends for years. "Hey guys" Arthur said. James winked at him. “Guess who got lucky last night.” Arthur smiled and started to walk away. "You?" » Derek said smiling. “I don’t believe it.” James and Derek followed Arthur, walking on either side of him. “You should have seen her.” The sky was a brilliant blue. Vast clouds floated between the colossal mountain peaks. “Let’s go to town. I need cigarettes. » Derek said. “You should really stop that,” James said. Derek punched him in the arm, "Oh, shut up." Arthur laughs. A cold and violent wind suddenly swirled across their faces. The three boys left the road and went down a hill and into the woods. Derek looked straight ahead and said "This way!" Faint patches of light shone through the trees onto the dark forest floor. Derek led the three under a log and over a hill, then began cutting randomly through patches of forest. “Where are you going?” » asked James. “It’s a shortcut!” “You idiot, it’ll just ruin us.” “No, I’m sure it’s a shortcut!” Derek replied. James turned to Arthur "We should just take a look around." But Arth... middle of paper ......inst the edge of the bridge and screams. Then Arthur kicked Derek's foot and spun him around with all his might. He pulled Derek's arms tightly. Breaking Derek's balance. He pushed Derek hard. Derek was sent screaming off the bridge, crashing onto the rocks hundreds of feet below. Arthur cried and picked up the bag of diamonds. Two years later, James came to visit Arthur's mansion in his sports car. James and Arthur were now both multi-millionaires. James had survived the knife wound and was in better shape than ever. Arthur never forgot the horrible events brought about by one man's greed and donated much of his wealth to charity. The two men shared the diamonds and sold them in Antwerp, each earning more than $200 million. To this day, they never knew how the diamonds ended up in this forest..
