The Lone Star Nation reflects the efforts of lone individuals that ultimately change the state of the lone stars forever. Specific Texan heroes Stephen Austin who founded Texas, alongside Sam Houston who led the Texas army and was its governor. William Travis and his love for Rosanna were discovered while James Bowie and David Crockett stood up and fought for the Alamo. Santa Anna is a dictator whose proceedings turned the settlers against him but has impacted Texas to this day. When Texas became a state, Andrew Jackson was president. Lone Star Nation shows how Texas rose as a territory in the 1820s with each major event and battle caused by or for Texas. Texas had its victory like the Alamo thanks to battles with the Comanche tribe and others. HW Brands tells the story of every type of person who helps create what Texas is today. Families, women, slaves, generals, opponents and many more. The beginning of this whole period began when the territory of Texas became floating. This area of land rises above sea level, calm and flat. “A handful of minor volcanoes have spilled lava across the landscape, but for the most part their emergence involved only slight titling of the seafloor, with the northwest rising slightly more than the southwest » (Marks 3). Texas was filled with small rivers unlike most states. Texas began with immigrants primarily from Tennessee. One day, Moses Austin, a frontier industrialist, and his son Stephen began exploring this territory to exploit their desire for land. Even though Moses Austin failed in everything he experienced in his early life, he always had new ambitions. Moses was married to a lady from Philadelphia named Mary Brown. They had two daughters... middle of paper... it was hard to know which story was which and so on. This book was just really interesting to see how the brands I manage treat the main characters fighting for Texas independence and how they specifically played a different role during that time period. Each individual did their part, experienced a different event and reacted differently. ways.
