Essay / Radical Liberalism and Conservatism - 962
Conservatism supports family values and has a generally more independent way of thinking. As conservatives, we believe in focusing on solving your own problems and making decisions for yourself, rather than for the community. Conservatives promote equal justice, as opposed to the liberal way of promoting social justice. Radical liberals focus on equal opportunity for everyone, regardless of skill level. Contrary to popular belief, it is easily possible that conservatism receives far more positive acclaim than liberalism. It is important that we conservatives put an end to liberal thinking before it begins to make its way into the nation. Classical conservatism emerged in the midst of the French Revolution. This happened when Chateaubriand gave the name Le Conservateur to a newspaper he published in order to resist the spread of political news, particularly democratic ideas. It didn't take long for that name to be taken up by others, like me, who oppose the progress of democracy. Conservatism focuses on the idea of a centralized monarch as well as the Church, as well as the idea that there should be a person born with the divine right to rule. Conservatism revolves around tradition and social stability. Conservatives believe in gradual development rather than immediate change. The obvious enemy of conservatism is liberalism, or "radicals." Liberals are radical advocates of change. Liberals support the ideas of equality, freedom, individuality and rationality. Liberalism is in constant decline and is gradually becoming a simple substantive theory. Liberalism does not carry enough legitimate weight to be considered a 19th century ideology. Instead, we should just take the necessary ideas and implement them... middle of paper... without any loss of life. If we allow liberals to implement their way of thinking, our nation will eventually turn to chaos and unrest. We must defend our beliefs in the monarchy and the divine sovereign, and fight to prevent liberals from entering Parliament. Our traditions will be the backbone of this nation and a dependent factor in our progressive change. However, if we attempt to abruptly change the nation, as liberals suggest, then nothing but negative will fall among our people. All voting rights and decision making should remain in the hands of the landowners and elite, as they are the ones born to lead and best understand what is needed within our nation. The poor are not equipped to take on this kind of responsibility and should ultimately be excluded from government without fear that their population will not be represented..
