More than 10 million people visit the Great Wall of China every year. The most famous section of the wall, the Badaling Great Wall, has been visited by more than 300 heads of state and personalities (Top 10 Interesting Facts about the Great Wall of China. Np, nd Web. November 28, 2017.). The main idea of this research paper is the one and only Great Wall of China. The three points in this research paper will focus on the construction of the wall, such as who built it and how long it took. The second point is the purpose of the wall and what it symbolizes. The third and final point is what the Great Wall of China is today and whether it remains preserved and safe. As the first main point, I will explain the construction of the Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China was not built all at once, it was built between the 7th and 7th centuries. The main purpose of the wall was to protect the Chinese empire from the Mongols and other invaders. Without the wall, the Chinese Empire might have been conquered by the Mongols or other invaders. The wall was also used to prevent Chinese citizens from leaving China. The Chinese Empire did this so that Chinese civilians would become one and have a group of people who could all get along. The wall also serves as a symbol: in this case, the western part of the world used the Great Wall of China to represent China. This means that the wall is the symbol of China in the Western world. The Great Wall of China also symbolizes Chinese culture and people, meaning that the wall has kept China unified and maintained its culture. Ultimately, the Great Wall of China served as a symbol and a great defense system. The wall was a great defense system because it not only played a defensive role, people climbed the towers and attacked enemies from there. Although the wall once served a protective purpose, its main purpose today is as a tourist spot.
