  • Essay / The Pain - 904

It all started one day when Blair felt this excruciating pain in the lower part of her stomach. She didn't know what to do, so she sat there and waited for it to pass, it finally did. After the pain subsided, Blair went to her mother to tell her what had happened and her mother told her that it was probably just cramps because it was normal for a teenager to have that. Well, the pain came back and it was just a coming and going phenomenon, so Blair's mom made an appointment with their doctor, Dr. Bass. Blair finally got to the doctor and she thought it might also be cramps, but just in case it wasn't, she took a test. Dr. Bass did blood tests and stool samples to make sure everything was okay in Blair's system, which it wasn't. Dr. Bass called Blair a few days later and told her she had a parasite called Cryptosporidium. Blair was happy to have discovered what was wrong with her and prescribed medication to kill the parasite. Once again, Blair was disappointed because the medicine didn't work, so Dr. Bass had to prescribe a stronger medicine and it worked. After a few days of no pain, Blair was in class when all of a sudden it happened again, the pain was back. Blair tried to stay calm and went to the bathroom. Luckily, Blair's mother works at the school she goes to, so she was excused to go talk to her mother, Mrs. Waldorf. Blair explained to her mother that the pain was back and her mother immediately called Dr. Bass and seemed confused as to why the pain was back. Dr. Bass told Mrs. Waldorf that Blair would have to swallow barium to see what was going on inside Blair. Blair drank the barium swallow liquid and it was the worst thing she had ever tasted. It was a pink gooey liquid that looked like pop rocks middle of paper...... Blair after you finish putting the dye in her IV it makes you feel like you. are super hot and make you feel like you're peeing on yourself. But Blair snaps out of it and is sent back to her room. When the doctor comes to tell Blair the results, he says he has bad news. The doctor says Blair has ovarian cysts that keep rupturing and reforming over and over again. Blair is shocked but so relieved that they found out what was wrong with her, but the doctor says that Blair will need to take birth control medication to prevent the cysts from forming again. Blair is fired later that day. Blair remains on birth control for about 6 months when she tells her mother she can't take it anymore, the pain is still there. Blair and her mother return to Dr. Nate and tell them that she is back, and Dr. Nate is shocked, he wonders what to do next.?
