General Motors integrates entrepreneurship and innovation into its business objectives. This is evident in the General Motors Vision statement which states that its goal is to "lead in advanced technology and quality by creating the world's best vehicles." (1) For example, General Motors has an extensive R&D, design and engineering department that oversees the creativity, innovation and invention of its strategic technologies and innovation programs aligned with its vision business. In order to lead in advanced technologies of the world's best vehicles, General Motors integrates the concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation, which are essential to compete in the global market.(2) In the spirit of entrepreneurship, which is the process of discovering new ways to combine resources,(5) General Motors is a majority shareholder of GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Company of South Korea and maintains product, powertrain, and purchasing collaborations with Suzuki Motor Corporation in Japan.(3) These associations allow General Motors to access specific customers. markets and expand its product range. To be an innovative organization, General Motors must also establish advanced technology collaborations, such as those it has with Daimler AG and BMW AG of Germany and Toyota Motor Corp. of Japan (3), as well as promoting competitiveness and deferring research and development costs. (2) An example of innovation, which is the process of designing a new idea or thing, or improving an existing idea (5), is the two-mode hybrid system used today today on GM's hybrid pickup trucks and SUVs.
