  • Essay / The Importance of Engineering - 2303

Teamwork plays a vital role because “[n]othing important is ever accomplished by an individual acting alone.” (Landis 2013, p. 192). Indeed, group work will allow the team to work faster and more productively. This also applies to the lives of engineering students and their future. As part of teamwork, I have conducted peer reviews, where I assign grades to myself and my team members. I received the feedback this week and I have to say the results are quite impressive. As for my peers' grades, I performed well in terms of my ability to organize, execute, manage, evaluate, and work to high standards. This score reflects my behavior and actions for my team. I realize that it is best to be open-minded and honest about my ideas and that it also sends a clear message. I feel our group has become more confident and as a result we seem to be working efficiently. Additionally, our group can be interpreted as a system with increasing dynamics and chemistry. However, some factors need to be improved. These cases include idea development, broader analysis, and more contributions. From the required cases I can change the way I act with the team and try to produce better teamwork throughout the process.
