Henry Mintzberg in 1988 proposed an idea of five types of strategies, which can be described strategically as a plan, a stratagem, a model, a position and a perspective. He developed these five types of management strategy into 10 “schools of thought”. This strategy can be a useful system for categorizing the field of strategic management. The planning schoolThis is a formal process. In a word, it is a step-by-step process that the organization carries out based on the circumstances from analysis to strategy execution. This helps the organization better understand what it needs to do. As a result, the organization can well control the flow of the process and enable efficient allocation of resources. (Review of Factors Affecting Successful Strategic Management, 2014)3. The positioning schoolIt is an analytical process. The company will be placed in the context of its industry and see what can be done by the organization to improve its positioning within the industry. This helps the organization run its business in a more standardized manner. It is very useful at the beginning of strategy development.4.
