  • Essay / The year 1792 of the French Revolution and...

“After his death, one of the assassins tore out his heart and ate it while another put his head on a pike and made it parade under the Queen's window” (Gautreu). The queen we are talking about is Marie Antoinette. She was the Archduchess of Austria and when she married Louis the King, tension began to grow between Austria and France. This ultimately led to the September massacre. The author speaks here of the Princess de Lambelle. She accompanied the royal family to the Tuileries; she was the daughter of the king of the time, Louis XVI. This is a description of what happened to the princess during those terrible September days. These are some of the ways in which people were murdered during the year 1792. Therefore, the September Massacre was the most important part of the French Revolution because it had many events that preceded, the greatest number of deaths during and had many consequences afterwards. In the nine months leading up to that fateful day, tragedies that no man can imagine occurred in the first few months when the unrest began. On March 9 and 10, 1792, the then French king Louis XVI formed a monarchical government, but most citizens were forcing a change of government since 1789 (Brown). However, other French citizens and prisoners did not agree with his choice and began to rebel. In April, Paris entered into war against Austria (World Book Ink, “Encyclopedia” 414). This happened because Paris was trying to return to the old government based solely on agriculture, even though they agreed to keep it as it was with the new monarchical government. Later, on April 20, 1792, Prussia joined Austria in the war against France (Brown). After a long time...... middle of paper ......onaparte left his military and political position and then took power in France by declaring himself emperor of the country from 1804 to 1814. Although the year 1793 was the most important year of the Revolution; this could never have happened without the tragedies of 1792, particularly the September massacre. This is why the September massacre was the most important part of the French Revolution because of the many months leading up to the tragedy, the five days of complete war. turmoil, and the two months that followed. "A sensibility that complains almost exclusively about the enemies of liberty seems suspect to me. Stop shaking the bloody robe of tyrants off me, or I will think you want to chain Rome." (Gautreu) This is what Robespierre said, who earlier this year developed the plan to remove the king from his throne and takes over within the year. 1793.
