    The social media community is growing at a phenomenal rate and not just among teenagers in America or other countries around the world, but also among adults. People of all ages now have an account on a social networking site such as Myspace, Facebook or Twitter. The almost immediate success of social networking sites like these may be contributed to the ease of communication they offer. The simplicity of communicating with friends and colleagues is almost mind-boggling. However, this is not the only benefit of the online community known as social networking. Social media can be used as a great source of information, and not just to find out what a friend will wear to a get-together. Social networks can be used for political, informational, medical, commercial and even educational purposes. But above all, social networks are a fantastic means of communication. Social media is not a danger to anyone as long as it is used appropriately. When used as directed, they can be a powerful mechanism available to the population. The possibilities of social networks are practically limitless. Social media is the imminent future of communication and should be seen as a positive impact on society; it’s a valuable connection. Social media, particularly Facebook, first appeared on the scene in the early 2000s, created by Mark Zuckerberg, a Harvard dropout. Bursting onto the social scene might be the appropriate term: "There are over 500 million active users on Facebook ("Friends Without Borders. (Cover Story)." In terms of numbers, Facebook would be the third largest country of the world, which would make the "country of Facebook" even bigger than the United States.... middle of paper ......
