The United States has troops stationed in Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, and Turkey and is currently fighting two wars. This country does not need another war. In recent weeks, the United States has taken serious military action in Libya. The goal of the United States is to liberate Libyan citizens from the tyrannical regime of Muammar Gaddafi. The United States has taken steps such as imposing a no-fly zone over Libyan airfields and removing Libya from the Human Rights Council, but recently the United States has begun firing missiles on Libyan tanks and other military weapons. Has the United States gone too far this time? US foreign policy experts believe that President Obama's actions, or the so-called "Obama Doctrine", may have gone beyond his hasty decision to use military force. Experts on U.S. international relations fear that the decline in U.S. influence over other nations of the world will significantly diminish. Additionally, due to Libyan leader Maommar Gaddafi's relationship with North Korea, the threat of proliferation could cause massive global upheaval. Therefore, if the United States wants to maintain a strong foreign policy, it should completely withdraw all military presence and military assistance in Libya. Starting a war with Libya is not only important for politicians and the military, but it is also important for students at the University of Illinois. Over the past few fiscal years at the University, Illinois State has cut more and more of the school's budget, but the only reason isn't the recession.
