The role of women in science and technologyWomen have played an important role in the development of science and technology, but there are a number insufficient number of women in these career fields. Technological change has affected women's roles and ideas about gender roles. Women have undoubtedly come a long way in improving their numbers and increasing their percentages in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce, but statistics indicate that their numbers are still lower than those men. Women have struggled from a young age to try to advance in knowledge, but for some of them, gender roles have not allowed them to continue their studies. Many people think that there were no women scientists and engineers before modern times, but in reality women have been participating in these fields of study for over 3,000 years. Its known women have been involved in science-related activities for around 6,000 years. The names of many women are not known and most of them were from the Middle East; the first recorded names came from Egypt. Merit Ptah lived around 2700 BC, she was a chief physician. Another name is Tapputi-Belakellima, she was a chemical engineer who lived around 1200 BC. There is also evidence that women built two of the Seven Wonders structures of the ancient world. Technological changes have been made, it is clear that women are needed in STEM. Gender ideas are not the same as they were in the 1900s. Instead, women are encouraged to pursue education. than staying at home to clean and take care of the children. Women need to step out of their comfort zone and try their hand at math and science. Many women pursue careers in physiology, liberal studies, nursing, etc., but not enough women do so. careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
