  • Essay / Persuasive Speech on Human Trafficking - 715

What if your daughter, sister, or mother was stolen from a life of freedom and sold into slavery? Wouldn't you want to do everything humanly possible to save her? Ordinary people are sold, contract diseases and lose their lives. It's not just the poor who are sold into sex slavery, it's also middle-class people who are lured into this industry. It is our duty, our goal and our priority to protect the innocent from a life of servitude; we must end human trafficking now. Human trafficking is the trade in human beings, most often for the purposes of sexual slavery, forced labor, or commercial sexual exploitation of the trafficker. It is “the third largest organized crime, a $10 billion industry” (Krishnan). Women are used as sex slaves, sold several times a day, thousands of times a year. There are children as young as three or four years old who are sold for child pornography. For what ? Their parents cannot afford to feed them or provide for the rest of the family. These parents only hope to sell their child and earn some money to support the rest of the family for a short time. Worldwide, “about eight in ten suspected human trafficking cases investigated by federally funded task forces were classified as sex trafficking” (“Victims of Crime”). In addition to being raped by several men, these female victims are drugged and mistreated, even killed. Human trafficking is run by big business people who think they have the same mindset as the rest of society. They think that by selling women, they are doing them good, even if it is "a true horror which has claimed thousands of victims around the world" (K...... middle of paper ... ... inment Close-Up) that happens around them every day. If we brought everyone in the world together, we could end sex slavery sooner. Human trafficking is a problem that must be stopped before it gets too out of hand. These injured victims need your compassion, empathy and acceptance. These blameless women should be at ease knowing that we have captured the culprits and their evil deeds have been stopped. These criminals pass by every day while we remain silent. These women and child victims are sold and abused daily, for what kind of reward? A sexually transmitted disease, the beatings of a man who rapes her and, in the worst cases, death. It's a shame for our world, no child, no woman, no human being deserves these horrible life events that they can never forget..
