1) The story takes place in Pinedale, Florida. Where an HIV-positive student at Pinedale High School, named Alejandro Crusan or Alex for short, was attacked while in his car. A witness named Daria Bickell says she was a student at the same school, named Clinton Cole, at the crime scene. At the beginning of the story, Clinton is suspected of being the person who committed the crime. He is confronted with other people's problems. He is questioned by both the police and his family about where he was when Alex was attacked. But Clinton can't say where he was because he threw a rock at the Crusan house and injured his sister's best friend. He also called his father even though his mother hated that Clinton did that. Alex and Clinton struggle with the problems of their family and each other. Alex feels like he's treated differently when he is, but that's not how he wants everyone to treat him, by his family, Jennifer, and other people. Clinton is treated like an outcast, his friends no longer want to hang out with him, and his little sister treats him like a monster. He begins to realize what he has...
