  • Essay / Exploring Theatrical Elements: An Analysis of the Play

It seemed like we were simply following the story of Emily and George's lives. At first, I found the story rather bland. Act 2 with the wedding was cute. However, when Act 3 came into play with the dead souls and funerals, I felt the story was getting really dark. I also feel like the story unfolded like a cycle of human life. The model could have been like experiencing life, love and death. Act 3 was fascinating, not because of its reading, but because of these little theories on the themes and symbols to be invented. That said, I didn't fully enjoy this book. I didn't appreciate it until Act 3. Honestly, I couldn't find any way to make the other acts more engaging. I feel like if Act 1 could provide a little more in-depth discussion of Dr. Gibbs and Mrs. Gibbs, it might help spark some interesting debate. I think my thinking experience changed a bit because of how I was able to come up with ideas on the theme of plays. Actually reading the book wasn't as much fun as coming up with ideas or possible ideas.
