Left versus Right Brain and LearningEvery person has a governing hemisphere and once learning becomes a technical process, the idyllic part of the brain takes charge of solving the problem at hand. There are two sides of the brain that directly influence learning and produce different ways of receiving, storing, and responding to information that ultimately affect our entire learning process. The cerebral cortex is divided into two hemispheres, left and right, and houses the functions that make us human (Lucas, 2008). Human beings are supposed to process information based on their dominant hemisphere, although the learning process improves through the joint functioning of both hemispheres. This means we need to strengthen our less dominant brain hemisphere to properly absorb new meanings and improve new neural circuits to create connections. My article will demonstrate the characteristics and processing styles used by our left or right cerebral hemisphere. The left hemisphere of the brain sorts information in a linear, that is, sequential and organized manner. Left-brain learners tend to work well independently and learn at their own pace (Education Alliance, 2014). Furthermore, the left hemisphere is remarkably proficient at sequentially processing all incoming material, including visual information (Webb, 1983). Processing and understanding symbols is relatively easy for the left-brain learner. This is why the left-brain learner excels when working with workbooks or a computer program (Education Alliance, 2014). Subsequently, this turned out to be very favorable because our primary education system is attentive to the learning abilities of left brains and the enrichment of their knowledge...... middle of paper ..... . hen learning.
