Essay / William Blake Essay - 666
William Blake is remembered for his poetry, prints, engravings, and paintings. He was born in Soho, London, Great Britain, on November 28, 1757. William was the third of seven siblings, two of whom died in infancy. As a child, he did not go to school, but his mother schooled him at home. His mother thought he could read and write. As a little boy, he was always different. Most kids his age were going to school, hanging out with friends, or just playing. While William had visions of unusual things. At the age of four he had a vision of God and at nine he had another vision of angles on trees. Williams' parents were very supportive of his abilities and everything he would do. His parents enrolled him in a drawing school in Paris at the age of ten. After completing his studies, he was apprenticed to a master engraver at the age of fourteen. He was then sent to Westminster Abbey because they saw his abilities and talent. He was sent to Abbey to make drawings of monuments by James Basire. Abbey introduced William to the Gothic style of writing, which made his work unique. Once his apprenticeship was completed, he became a professional engraver. At twenty-one, he engraved illustrations for Don Quixote. One day he was walking and a riot broke out in London. It was motivated by the anti-Catholic preaching of Lord George Gordon. This event took place in June of the year 1780. This event inspired him to make works like "Europe" and "America", and also motivated him to write in his poetry about his Protestants at war and on the domination of kings. He continued his studies and entered the Royal Academy on October 8, 1779. One day, he helped a woman named Catherine Boucher to read, write...... middle of paper ......s so that he can read classic works. Some of his greatest achievements were Songs of Innocence, Book of Thel, Gates of Paradise and Songs of experience. I think William Blake is an important person because his poetry helped people find a way to express themselves about how they feel. war. His poetry also helped people see how kings dominated the people. This world is different because William Blake lived because he formed two new movements like the “Romantic Movement” and the “Pre-Romantic Movement”. Knowing William is useful in my life because he taught me that determination and desire will take you far. He also taught me that you don't have to change the way you do things to make people like it, as long as you like it yourself. In my view, William was one of the best poets of his time, with little recognition..
