In the book World War Z by Max Brooks, a character named Roy Elliot says: "When I believe in my ability to do something, the word no doesn't exist. » (160). This semester in English 112, I challenged myself to get an A in this course. After the first day of classes in August, I knew this course was the perfect fit for me. I knew the guidelines and expectations were high and would benefit my challenge of getting an A. Every night before bed, I make sure to put my backpack away so I'm ready with all my equipment. Another essential part of my bedtime routine is setting my alarm early enough to give me enough time to get ready for my day and get to class before it starts so I'm not rushed. My goal of getting an A in English 112 came to an abrupt halt when I noticed I had failed an assignment, the Bundy Citation Exercise. I received 28 points out of a possible 50 for the assignment. I knew I had to work very hard to get a better grade on my future assignments. When I picked up the citation exercise, I noticed that last year I had read an article that summarized the reality of missing lessons. I don't remember the exact math, but the amount you pay to attend college is almost $50 per class. Plus, going to class is part of my job as a student. I should thank my parents for making me go to class every day in high school and punishing me if I skipped class. They made me realize the importance of going there; I never fell behind and rarely got bad grades. The only class I missed this semester was due to my own irresponsibility, when I went to bed the night before and set my alarm for 8:30 p.m., not in the morning. When my alarm didn't go off in the morning, I slept until class. My presence, in my opinion, should not affect my grade. Not only do I come to class every day, but I am attentive and engaged in class
