One of the meanings and importance of biotechnology is that it covers almost all fields. Biotechnology applications can be used for industrial, agricultural and medical purposes. The study of microorganisms and particles can benefit humanity. With a clear understanding of internal body composition and molecular behavior, vaccines and drugs can be produced to treat diseases and conditions. Fruits and vegetables can be modified to grow faster, taste better, withstand different temperatures, repel insects, and more. Although biotechnology has the potential to influence modern society and positively impact the environment, its misuse can have devastating consequences and side effects. The creation of biological weapons, food toxicity, product errors and many ethical issues must also be taken into account in the development of such technology. However, the benefits and potential advancements of this technology could feed the hungry, reduce the environmental or human footprint, develop cleaner and more efficient energy sources, and more. Although it can bring many benefits as well as industrial, medical, economic and environmental advantages to contemporary society, it may prove to have only disadvantages and significant short and long term repercussions. Human cloning in particular may also pose many ethical and moral issues that may need to be considered. From a development perspective, slow and sure progress appears to be a better path than the alternative of aggressive expansion.
