Stronger Southern Border Control The lure of work and a better lifestyle for their families are the reasons why most people immigrate. So much so that the reward given to illegal immigrants outweighs the consequences they might face. Thousands of people enter the U.S. southern border each year with the intention of remaining there without going through the justice system. If America continues to leave the gates open and allow people to cross illegally without consequence; it personifies injustice to those who made the effort to be here legally. The 2010 census sparked protests from some Latino advocates, denouncing the lack of immigration reform (Billitteri 24). Latino communities want the reform to protect them from deportation.
