This study examines human behavior during evacuation after a building fire and how each response affects the occupant's ability to safely evacuate the building. Many deaths have occurred when people were unable to escape from a burning building, due to inadequate building design, inadequate fire detection and suppression systems, and visibility of doors and exit signs.
