Essay / Collaborative Observation Project - 2257
IntroductionI teamed up with two other people to carry out a collaborative project. The reason for doing a collaborative project is that by working with others, you can achieve more results. “The use of the word is synergy and the implication is that a team of people can accomplish more together than anyone could individually. » (Lacey p) Introduction about myself and the two colleagues I observed. I wrote a little about each person and how they were influenced to go into teaching. MyselfAfter leaving school at the age of 16, I went straight into hairdressing. I started going to college one day a week and the rest of the week I learned on the job in a living room. I found this really beneficial for me because at university I was gaining basic and theoretical knowledge about why things were done in certain ways and it also gave me the chance to receive step by step instructions and apply the skills I had learned. at my workplace. While I was at work, I was able to observe the skilled and experienced stylists and see how they work. This really helped my development and gave me the opportunity to come up with my own ideas on how I was going to do things. I think working one day a week at college really helped my learning. This gave me the opportunity to put into practice what I had learned at the salon with a qualified stylist and allowed me to learn alternative methods of doing things, especially if I was unable to understand with the first way I was taught. . This was done by the teacher demonstrating on a training head and then the students going off and practicing on their training heads until we felt confident doing it on a model. By learning this way, it helped me to be in a safe environment when...... middle of paper ...... writing about it and selecting the key areas of the 'information. I use both of these methods not only in key skills, but also as part of my normal teaching. If I'm honest I didn't think there was anything wrong with the teaching, they all had control of the students and the class was well managed and the flow of lessons was really good. I have not changed the way I teach, but I have added new ideas that I have learned from the sessions that I have observed.BibliographyPetty, G. (2004) Teaching today. 3rd edition.
