    If a film cannot be taken seriously, many viewers will find that the film begins to leak into camp territory. One genre that can really feel this way is disaster cinema, particularly the 1970s film cycle. Perhaps the main factors that can cause a genre and cycle like this to turn towards camp are the makes the characters generally paper thin or standard, the setup/disaster can be ridiculous, and the hammy acting/dialogue changes the audience's emotions. . Of course, there are many different factors that can make a genre like this a bit campy, but what it all boils down to is that if the audience can't buy into the drama, how are they supposed to take the film ?
