  • Essay / Analysis of Remember When Alan Jackson - 1020

Throughout the song, Jackson mentions the time he first met his wife at a young age, got married, separated, s was reconciled and started a family. The phrase "Remember When" is used to return to one's memories (Lyrics007). He describes that when they got married, they had to learn to overcome the good and bad times in their relationship. In stanza 4 Jackson states "the sound of little feet", this is when they separated and reconciled months later because their children had such an impact on them that they didn't want to divorce (Lyrics007). When he says that "when thirty seemed old", as they married so young, they thought thirty was old and, looking back, they are old (Lyrics007). Towards the end of the song, they swear to stay together forever until old age, no matter the circumstances. It describes that when their children move away, Jackson and his wife will look back on their memories as they spent their lives together.
