Knowing that these workers don't want to spend more time on the job than they should, Clark cleverly depresses readers. He knows that if he uses facts that will steer city workers away from the bike share system, it will help him persuade others to feel the same way he does about the new bike share program. His use of pathos throughout the article is very subtle but deadly, and makes the readers feel guilty without even them.
