Essay / Compare and contrast The Odyssey and Much Ado About...
The Odyssey indirectly illustrates the difficulties and rewards of relationships between men and women, and this same subject is a main theme of Much Ado About Nothing . At first glance, these two masterpieces look absolutely nothing alike, but they clearly have strong similarities in this universal theme. BYU-Idaho students can benefit from serious study and reflection on these two great works in countless ways; but, when it comes to relationships between men and women, they can help see relationships in a clearer light. The culture that BYU-Idaho students live in can sometimes be difficult to navigate. LDS culture's ideas about marriage and sexual relationships between men and women differ greatly from the world around these students, and students can get lost between the two conflicting cultures if they are not careful. Through these two great works of art, a student can better understand the reality of commitment to marriage. Marriage requires constant hard work; it can be exhausting due to the ongoing struggle between the two sexes. On the other hand, these books can also help restore a student's hope in their relationships because of the great rewards that such relationships can bring.
