Body parts falling asleep is definitely a strange feeling. You get up from your seat or a certain position, and all you feel from one foot, leg, hand, or arm is an uncomfortable tingling sensation. Then again, you wake up in the middle of the night and you can't move your foot, leg, hand, or arm. As parts of your body “wake up,” a strange tingling sensation increases. What is causing this tingling sensation? (How it works 1)This tingling sensation is caused by paresthesias. Paresthesia is a shivering, tickling, tingling, or flaring sensation in an individual's skin without obvious long-term physical impact. The sensation, which occurs without warning, is usually effortless and is described as a deadness, sliding of the skin, or tingling. The appearance of paresthesia can be temporary or long-lasting. (Paresthesia 1)Paresthesias of the hands, feet, legs and arms are regular and transient side effects. The most widely recognized and common reason is transient limitation of blood supply to a nerve area, usually caused by leaning or resting on parts of the body, for example the legs. Other reasons include conditions, for example hyperventilation syndrome, open mouth frequently and binge strikes. Other common cases occur when the controlled weight has been connected to a nerve, impeding/enhancing its ability. The evacuation of weight usually results in continued relief of these paresthesias. (Paresthesia 1) Chronic paresthesias are usually a manifestation of an underlying neurological disease or traumatic nerve injury.
