In today's government, political parties represent a large part of government operations and the way decisions are made in government. In Madison's The Federalist, No. 10 Madison explained how factions can control and harm the government. One solution to this control was the use of a republic in order to limit the power of factions and prevent them from having total control. However, in our government, factions have become a major part of the government system, with political parties having complete control over the various branches of government. Using this two political party system creates many problems within our government as both parties fight for control of the legislature and government. Despite the use of a republican system as Madison mentions in his article, factions continue to control and influence our government today. Madison's views on the branches of government also affect our government today. The fact that our government is divided into several branches helps our government not to be affected by corruption because each branch is independent of each other. These independent branches help prevent corruption because each branch has independent direction and control and is not affected by the opinions of the others. At the same time, these branches having unique views and control can lead to problems in that branches of government may not be able to properly interact with
