A large majority of Americans have already sung the Star-Spangled Banner; it demonstrates the patriotism and values for which America was founded. A line from the national anthem includes: “…[America is] the land of the free.” Liberty and liberty are something that Americans tend to be proud of, especially since the United States is more commonly known as the "Land of the Free." Most Americans don't think twice about freedom here in the United States because the first people who discovered America wanted religious and governmental freedom. Most Americans believe that everyone has the freedom and right to do whatever they want; however, upon closer inspection we see that this is actually false for thousands of people. Very few people realize that slavery never really ended since the Civil War, but only expanded into a more modern form: human trafficking. Freedom is defined as freedom from slavery, coercion, or the power of others. The definition of slavery most often applies to African American slaves, who were exploited for their cheap labor. However, in today's modern society, it is now sex trafficking. Sex trafficking is non-consensual prostitution. Although this may seem rare, it is actually very common in the United States, with the Bay Area being one of the largest centers of sexual slavery. According to NBC Bay Area's Stephanie Chuang, Sacramento native Kacie Klinnert was kidnapped from El Dorado Hills, a city neighboring Sacramento, and transported to a hotel in Rocklin. There, she was raped and forced into human trafficking. Kacie is just one of thousands of young women subjected to sexual slavery; she is only one of the few who escaped.
