Hotspots can be more easily identified, but that doesn't mean other areas need to be monitored. This also does not mean that the department must rely entirely on crime mapping data. Crime mapping is just one of the many tools our officers should have. However, it is one of the most common and versatile tools as it can be used by detectives, cops and senior officers. The officers themselves are the department's most important asset, crime mapping simply better equips them to handle what they encounter on a daily basis.
