  • Essay / Violent video games are the cause of youth aggression

Advancements in technology have created many new forms of entertainment, one of the most popular being video games. Video games have come a long way since their introduction to the general public in the 1960s and 1970s and have garnered great appeal among people of all ages and cultures. However, it was not until the release of the Playstation that violence became a concern for parents and politicians. The level of violence in video games has been the subject of controversy since classic games like Pacman and Space Invaders and with advances in technology, eventually leading to more modern and realistic games like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Call. of duty: ghosts. These games evolve and change every year introducing new graphics, realism, sound effects and scenarios. The increase in aggression and addiction among young people, coupled with life acts imitating art, justifies the banning of violent video games. To begin with, in recent years, psychologists have confirmed that violent video games are at the origin of young people's aggression. This trend is growing quite quickly and is harming the society in which humans live today. In a study conducted by Gentile, Lynch, Linder and Walsh (2004, p.6) “teenage girls played video games an average of 5 hours per week while boys played them an average of 13 hours per week. Adolescents who play violent video games for long periods of time display aggression, are more prone to confrontation with their teachers, are more likely to engage in fights with their peers, and experience a decline in their academic results. As noted, children who play violent video games for an extended period of time are more likely to be aggressive and hostile. Teenagers who regularly read the brain and encourage it to stay in touch. and since most of these games give rewards all the time, they are endless games, which eventually lead to addiction. And finally, teenagers who regularly play violent video games find violence, guns and blood attractive and seductive, causing them to lose their minds. merging with the real world and the virtual world. It is disastrous, mind-boggling and sad that in today's technological world the hobby of video games has attracted young and old alike to play games of the simple "Tetris". " to the overly brutal and sadistic series "Grand Theft Auto" and saying "It's fun, it's just a game, and I would never do that in real life. "Parents, teachers, psychologists and even politicians conclude that violent video games influence is not for the better of society, quite the opposite!
