To all great South Carolinians, it is time to act. Our own country is ready to destroy our honorable state and we will not comply. As political leaders of our great state, we need your approval to secede from the United States to form a sovereign and just nation for our state. The inauguration of Abraham Lincoln will mark the beginning of the disappearance of the Southern way of life, such as the abolition of slavery. This will further negatively impact our state as black people will go free and steal our jobs. Additionally, the North will become much more powerful than our state and we will not have much power in Congress. The country we helped form has turned its back on us, we must act. The North's actions are dangerous to our way of life, and our great state will need to be bold and become a prosperous nation that will not oppress its citizens. The United States is attempting to move toward a new cultural shift in government where the ideals of the Northern states exceed the needs of the Southern states. This trend is not favorable to South Carolina because the North does not know what the South needs to succeed. The North is doing whatever it takes to improve its situation without considering the implications of excluding the South from future plans. The South cannot compete with the North which is trying to unconstitutionally take advantage of the South because of the size of its government. The South cannot compete with Northern supremacy in government because it attempts to oppress Southern ideas. South Carolina does not have to continue to accept changes implemented by the government because the North is not helping the South. South Carolina can secede... middle of paper ... oppression from the North. The South is gaining the upper hand in Congress because the North is implementing its policies. The inauguration of President Lincoln will hurt every chance of Southern politics, because it will make this country very different from what it should be. Additionally, the conflict between white and black employment in our state will create problems that should not occur. The state of South Carolina has a strong and rich history that the United States was tearing apart. South Carolina would benefit from shedding its ties to the United States because it does not have the same ideals. Your vote will be important because South Carolina does not need to continue the oppression of the North. Create a sovereign nation that will have the ideals that the North does not agree with, but from which South Carolina will greatly benefit in the future.
