    Order of the Sins of HellIn Inferno, hell exists to punish sin. The specific punishments of hell testify to the divine perfection of all sins. Inferno begins by telling the reader that Dante Alighieri got lost in a dark forest during his middle years, and soon after found his way. He returned from where he came, feeling scared and helpless because of a leopard, a lion and a she-wolf standing in his way. Dante then met Virgil, who was there to guide him to his beloved, Beatrice, in heaven. For this reason, he decides to accompany Virgil, but Virgil said that in order to go down the right path, he must lead him through the gates of Hell. The way Dante and Virgil began their journey was to arrive at the gates of Hell. They then enter the beginning of Hell through a place called the Ante-Inferno. The Ante-Inferno is a place where all the souls of the damned fall when they die.
