    Jealousy is an omnipresent emotion. This can lead people to commit foolish acts. In William Shakespeare's play Othello, the protagonist ends up killing his wife because he suspects her of infidelity. Although a heinous crime, Othello was just a pawn in a larger plan. We must therefore forgive him. Othello is a gullible fool. Othello's own problems lead him to murder Desdemona. He has insecurity issues with himself. At the beginning of the play, Othello is confident. Iago often speaks of Othello in a humble manner. He even calls him an "old black ram" and describes him as "killing your white sheep" (1.1.9) when he wakes Brabantio with the news of Desdemona's marriage to Othello. Othello begins to degrade himself by saying “I am rude in my words” (1.3.96). This loss of trust undermines his relationship with Desdemona, paving the way for his subsequent death.
