Essay / The importance of lean production - 855
The economic situation in which China finds itself is somewhat different from that of 10 years ago: the increasing cost of labor, the slow but steady economic recovery of Western countries, growing domestic competition. and the awareness of a quality product in domestic demand was underlined by the importance of efficiency; in terms of cost, reliability and performance, in the production decision process (Benister, 2011; Hinh, 2013). The future success of many companies indeed rests on their ability to meet customer expectations with high-caliber production through the delivery of quality products on short notice, with shorter delivery times and reduced costs (Baht , 2012). Therefore, manufacturing companies and their production system must operate efficiently and effectively to remain competitive in the national and global economy. The improvement and optimization of the manufacturing system is therefore a factor to be taken into account to achieve the overall success of the company (Mohr, 2012). It is for these reasons that there is a growing trend across industries to achieve greater integration between design and design. manufacturing functions to make operations more efficient and productive. One of the successful approaches in these efforts is Lean Manufacturing (Shahram, 2008; J. Wang 2013). Lean manufacturing is defined simply as operating a factory with minimal resources while maximizing the work accomplished with those resources (Bellgran, 2010). These resources are not just for workers and equipment but include time, space and materials. In short, lean production is: “doing more with less and doing better”. According to Recalling Sheridan (1990), “Among...... middle of paper...... an intense workshop with negligible demands and setup times. The objective of the thesis is to explore whether cellular manufacturing can help the manufacturing companies specified above achieve better production performance. Above all, the goal is twofold: to learn and improve. Cellular manufacturing not only improves the efficiency of production plants, but has the potential to create a new way of doing business (Wemmerlov, 1997). This term aims to understand whether and how to implement cellular manufacturing in medium-production companies characterized by a wide variety of products and flexible demand; Whereas, with the term improve, in the strict sense, we mean the optimization of the production system of this specified company through the development (design, implementation and evaluation) of an appropriate cellular manufacturing system..
