    most authors explore slave communities as characterized by bonds of friends, obnoxious respect for elders, and love caring between family members. This was the characteristic tendency that existed among the different families. African American culture exhibited through religion, music, and folk tales gave the enslaved community a characteristically resistant position in society. Ex-slaves, which included both women and men, were used as tools of the reality abolitionist movement; they acted as voices to their respective slave communities. This article primarily seeks to evaluate and analyze the major issues surrounding slavery and the quest for freedom of African-American slaves. It also seeks to expose the characteristics of the slavery narrative put forward by various authors. A refined conclusion will also focus on the success factors that led to the freeing of slaves.
