    There are many novels that involve a character's coming of age. The characters recount the psychological and sometimes moral evolution from youth to maturity. In Charles Dickens' masterpiece, Great Expectations, the protagonist Philip, also known throughout the book as Pip, has a moment in the book where his moral development takes place. Pip matures at some point in the novel. At the beginning of the novel, Pip is seen by readers as someone who questions everything. Pip was a well-behaved person who did whatever was asked of him. He was always humble and caring about the people he loved, namely Mrs. Joe and Joe. However, things begin to change when Pip starts going to Miss Havisham's house.
