  • Essay / Brain structures: effects on men and women

The brain is the most powerful and complex structure of the human organs. The human brain is totally spectacular and the most precious gift given to people. In fact, there are subtle differences in the way men's and women's brains are structured and how they respond to a particular event and stimulus. Men's brains are on average ten percent larger than women's and have four percent more cells. Somehow, women's brains are made up of more nerve cells and cell connections, making their brains more compact and smaller to be more effective and efficient. The differences in brain structures that affect men and women mainly lie in their thinking ability, their communication abilities, as well as their abilities in certain areas, which are our areas of research. The main differences in brain structures that influenced men and women are their thinking abilities. This most likely impacts how they process and gather all the information. First, according to Lin (2008), men think separately and women think globally. In short, men tend to store details much like a system of filing cabinets and drawers. Meanwhile, women tend to connect everything. For example, a man will close the “wife drawer” and open the “work drawer,” leaving behind any thoughts of disagreement with his wife and remaining focused on his work. However, his wife stewed all day about the disagreement. This is because she thinks globally and interweaves the details. Then, according to Gray (2011), men still primarily perform tasks on the rational side of the brain, which is the left side of the brain. He also notes that men performed better on tests requiring mental rotation, a thought to indicate direction. On the other hand, women are undoubtedly superior at thinking, based on G...... middle of paper ...... these differences. By knowing all these differences, we can at least better appreciate the strength and unique qualities of the opposite sex. Although men and women as a population tend to perform better in certain areas, the margin of difference is slightly small. The more men and women understand their differences, the more they will value each other. Works CitedGray, J (2011). The male brain versus the female brain.
