We are as valuable in ourselves as dust. We are not capable of doing anything on our own that is not done in vain. There is a total dependence on God that is necessary even when we are at the peak of our works or “spirituality.” And that is the goal of a good majority of the Bible. Because we, as humans, tend to try to do everything ourselves. We become so proud of our ways and think that we can survive by living this life on our own, on our own, and on our own.
