Essay / The Challenges of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
In the rain, Elizabeth travels the whole distance from Longbourn to Netherfield to see Jane, and when she arrives, her cheeks are red and her dress is stained with mud . At this point, a slight change occurs in Darcy when he recognizes Elizabeth's "pair of lovely eyes" (Austen chapter 6). Elizabeth has captivated Mr. Darcy, but in his eyes there is still one major obstacle: her social class and lack of wealth. He is afraid of falling in love and begins to feel the danger of "paying too much attention to Elizabeth" (Austen chapter).
