These levels represent the different levels of awareness that consciousness has about the world and about itself. Minimal awareness occurs when sensory inputs receive information and direct behavior without the individual knowing. This usually happens during sleep. This happens to me almost every night and I forget the dreams I had, so I have no idea what I was trying to do. Mindfulness is when the individual is aware of everything and you are able to report the state you are in. Self-awareness is the hyper-aware feeling of yourself, like the moment you realize you are an object in space. This awareness usually occurs in adolescents, which is also interesting: animals also go through self-awareness. In order to find out what people think, psychologists use the technique of experience sampling which shows that consciousness is dominated by the immediate environment, followed by the person's current concerns. Daydreaming is the state of consciousness in which an incessant stream of thoughts enters your mind. It may seem like you are wasting time but the brain is active. Wouldn't people daydream all day considering that they constantly have new and old thoughts when they're not concentrating on something? For example, whenever they constantly remember future events or look at the environment. People usually have thoughts that worry them repeatedly
