Anxiety is a common mental illness in the United States, which Kim Krisberg discusses in her article "Anxiety: A Normal Response That Can Feel Overwhelming." The cause of anxiety is discussed in Peter Crostas' article "What Causes Anxiety?" » Crosta also explains treatments for anxiety in his article “What are the treatments for anxiety? » In Kim's article she talks about anxiety and what it is, she states that it is a normal feeling that we all experience at some point in our lives. She explains that there is bad and good. Good normally keeps us motivated and protects us even in dangerous situations. Worst anxiety is when your worry becomes out of control and overwhelming. Kim speaks to chartered psychologist Simon Rego: “Anxiety is good at the right levels and under the right conditions. We need it. This prompts us to focus our attention and think about behavioral solutions to the threats that come our way. But it’s when it’s like a boiling pot that it’s bad.” Sally Winston, founder of PsyD and co-director of the Anxiety and Stress Disorder Institute, also gives examples of anxiety and anxiety disorder in Kim's article. “If I’m worried about having a cavity and have a plan of action, that’s normal and productive.” (Winston) “But if I am unable to tolerate uncertainty, if I go around in circles over unanswered questions, if the worry is excessive and unproductive, then that is a sign of trouble.” Winston) Peter Crosta wrote an article explaining the many different causes of anxiety He discusses five different concepts that anxiety could come from.
