Lifespan development is essential because it is the changes that occur to us throughout a person's life. Our development occurs at age stages where we develop from infancy until death. This essay will contain my life story to display the 5 age stage areas in my life development. The areas I will explore in this essay are physical, emotional, cognitive, social, cultural, and moral. The influence of biology and the environment plays an important role in my development. Development is influenced by nature or nurture and its effects will occur throughout life. Changes that occur during development have a stage. Every theorist has stages of development where they show changes. This essay will explore my development which will support theorists such as Erikson, Vygotsky, Berk, Piaget and other theorists. Prenatal age groups will display the physical and emotional domain, early childhood (0-2 years) will display the social and emotional domain, young children (2-6 years) will display the cognitive and social domain, middle childhood ( 6-12 years) will display the socio-emotional domain. The cultural and moral domain and adolescence will represent nature in relation to education and the cultural domain. Development is crucial for healthy well-being. As a physical therapist, it is important to understand development by age stages because this will help to know how young children will respond compared to an adolescence that is more developed mentally, emotionally, physically, socially and culturally. The emotional and physical domain in the prenatal stage is necessary for the growth of the baby (Watson & McDonald, 2007).
