Essay / Slavery is Terrible for Women, by Harriet A. Jacobs
Harriet Jacobs' story clearly shows the pain she endured as an enslaved woman, but it also showed the strength that she has proven to have it in herself. At such a young age, she experienced things that I had never experienced. His way of surviving is what truly inspires him. Just imagine having to watch your children grow up before your eyes and not being able to give them a hug or a kiss. The simple things our parents do for us today, the things we take for granted, are what she hoped and prayed we would one day be able to do. Jacobs died in 1897, but she continued to fight for African rights.
