    Not reading literature harms the population on how to be literature properly. Texting someone with bland conversation didn't educate our minds as well as reading actual literature would. Reading literature would do great things for their minds if they devoted their time to it instead of texting. Yet most people prefer to spend their time sending each other text messages, which usually contain abbreviated and misspelled words. Then the time spent reading inappropriate text messages made this communication a habit. For example, teens will communicate with someone in real life with common text abbreviations such as: "g2g" and "ttyl", instead of saying "I have to go" and "I'll talk to you later." These are inappropriate ways of communicating with someone and are becoming habits among younger generations. Moreover, reading real literature educates and develops the mind better than SMS. For example, it is generally said that the best way to exercise your mind and expand your vocabulary is to read literature. Whether it's fiction or non-fiction, your vocabulary expands and your literacy rate increases. People placed texting as a higher priority than reading
